KBA Annual Report for 2020 published

9th September 2021

The KBA Partners have released their annual report about the KBA Programme for 2020. In this you can read about new tools that are available for identifying KBAs as well as about progress in the identification about KBAs around the world. Mozambique published its first national assessment of KBAs, identifying 29 sites that cover nearly 17% of its land. Four of these are marine sites. The assessment was made across many taxonomic groups, making it one of the most comprehensive assessment for a country to date. Canada and South Africa have also moved ahead with assessing sites across their countries for multiple taxonomic groups and will likely be publishing their assessments in 2022. We encourage other countries to follow suit.
