Site details


Site description: A narrow, 60-km stretch of river with fringing reed <I>Phragmites</I>; the lower reaches have been dammed to form a fish-pond. There are three major settlements in the vicinity of Jegri&egrave;ka, which is surrounded by arable land.</P>
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: An important site for breeding and passage waterbirds.</P>

Threats


Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Threats include disturbance to birds, and the effects of fishing and hunting. One wet depression has been polluted by waste-water from a local cattle farm. Members of the Bird Protection and Study Society of Vojvodina undertook intensive ornithological research between 1989 and 1997.</P>
