This site corresponds to and overlaps with two Municipal Protected Areas the "Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area" and the "Gran Mojos Municipal Park and Integrated Management Municipal Park". This site is located in central Bolivia, southern the Departament of Beni. Both protected areas are located 6 km west of the city of Trinidad, which is the departmental capital, in the Cercado province of the Beni department. Ecologically this site includes forests, pampas and wetlands of the Moxos plains, between the Ibare and the Mamoré rivers. It is important because it is the habitat of different species of birds, mammals, fish, as well as the emblematic freshwater dolphin (bufeo) and, thanks to the Ibare River, it regulates the water cycle in the region. It is also culturally important due to the presence of several indigenous peoples and traditional communities settled within the protected area.
El Área Protegida Municipal Ibare-Mamoré es un área protegida de Bolivia, ubicada al centro del país. El área protegida se encuentra a 6 km al oeste de la ciudad de Trinidad, que es la capital departamental, en la provincia de Cercado del departamento del Beni. Cuenta con una superficie de 25.608 ha, que representa poco más del 14% de la superficie municipal, abarcando bosques, pampas y humedales de los llanos de Moxos, entre los ríos Ibare y Mamoré. Su importancia se debe a que es el hábitat de diferentes especies de aves, mamíferos, peces, así como del emblemático delfín de agua dulce (bufeo) y gracias al río Ibare se constituye en un regularizador del ciclo del agua en la región. Además cuenta con una importancia cultural debido a la presencia de varios pueblos indígenas y comunidades tradicionales asentados dentro del área protegida.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for KBA criteria: Inia geoffrensis (A1a, A1c) and Alectrurus tricolor (A1d)

Delineation rationale: The KBA follows the official limits of the mosaic formed by the protected areas : Private Estancias Elsner San Rafael Wildlife Reserve, Municipal Park and Gran Mojos Integrated Management Natural Area, Municipal Protected Area Ibare Mamoré Municipal Protected Area, and San Rafael de Monasterio Wildlife Refuge.
