Site details
Site description: A group of islands covered with maquis and phrygana and few trees. The main activities include fishing and stock-raising and some tourism.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The site is important for breeding seabirds, and breeding and passage raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Falco naumanni (passage).
Delineation rationale: 2012-12-17 (BL Secretariat): site area updated from 3900 ha to 14697 ha after addition of seaward extension to the site in October 2012 for the Marine eAtlas.
