Site details
Site description: This IBA consists of Dak Dam stream, which defines a section of the border between Vietnam and Cambodia. Dak Dam stream supports relatively undisturbed riverine forest, one of the most threatened habitat types in South-East Asia.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas) The site has been reviewed and re-confirmed as a KBA in the process of compiling the revised 2011 CEPF Ecosystem Profile for the Indo-Burma Hotspot.
Additional biodiversity: The site is important for its populations of Green Peafowl Pavo muticus and White-winged Duck Cairina scutulata. Non-bird biodiversity: Long-tailed Macaque Macaca fascicularis has been recorded at Dak Dam Stream (Brickle et al., 1998).Brickle et al. (1998) recorded Asian Elephant Elephas maximus, Gaur Bos gaurus and Banteng Bos javanicus at Dak Dam Stream. However, Brickle et al. could not rule out the possibility that the tracks used to record Asian Elephant came from domestic animals.

Threats
Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Biodiversity at the site is threatened by plans for major industrial and agricultural development in Dak Lak province. The province also has the highest immigration rate of any province in Vietnam, which leads to a greater demand for forest resources.
| Threat level 1 | Threat level 2 | Threat level 3 | Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agriculture & aquaculture | Annual & perennial non-timber crops | Shifting agriculture | Ongoing |
| Agriculture & aquaculture | Annual & perennial non-timber crops | Agro-industry farming | Ongoing |
| Biological resource use | Logging & wood harvesting | Unintentional effects: subsistence/small scale (species being assessed is not the target) [harvest] | Ongoing |
| Biological resource use | Hunting & collecting terrestrial animals | Unintentional effects (species being assessed is not the target) | Ongoing |
