Site description: El lago Lagunillas está ubicado en el departamento de Puno, provincia de San Román. Se trata de una laguna altoandina con una profundidad máxima de 47,6 m, rodeada de pajonal de puna. No se dispone de información sobre proyectos realizados en la zona.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard. KBA identified in the CEPF Ecosystem Profile of the Tropical Andes Hotspot (2015). Taxonomy, nomenclature and threat status follow the 2013 IUCN Red List.
