Site description: This IBA is located in the western part of the main Caucasian ridge.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: Number of most species was the same up to 1995 year, when datasheet was recieving by RBCU.
Delineation rationale: 2009-08-17: IBA area changed from 280,338 ha to 280,335 ha (by BL Secretariat, to match official WDPA area). 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 43°49'29'N 40°18'22'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 280338 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).

Habitats


Summary of habitats in KBA: In the end of 1990th it was plane to build the new road Maikop-Dagomys, which should to cross IBAs (and Zapovednik area!), what will be very dangerous for site. With new road new recreation, pollution, disturbance and @elimination on road' danger started at this site which is official strict nature reserve (Zapovednik).
