Site details
Site description: This area encompasses several small islands, shallow waters, inlets and small bays located near Vyborg Bay in the Gulf of Finland, south west of Primorsk town.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: In total up to 30000 Geese sp. (6 species) and up to 50000 Ducks sp. (7 species) are stoping at area on passage.
Delineation rationale: 2009-08-11: IBA area changed from 33,600 ha to 57,460 ha (by BL Secretariat, following RBCU spreadsheet of changes that need making). 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 60°18'30'N 28°27'54'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 57460 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
