Site details


Site description: Located in Hunchun City. The IBA is on the northern slopes of the Changbai Shan mountains near to where China borders Russia and North Korea. Habitats include many lakes, sand islands and marshes, and it is estimated that over 20,000 birds occur in the area.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: There are occasional records of Phoca largha at Kangjiangkou.
