Site details


Site description: Located where the Mau Us Desert of the Ordos plateau meets the Hobq Desert. The IBA is in a transitional area between typical grassland and desertified grassland, but since 2004 the area has become much drier and it has been reported that the Larus relictus population has declined drastically.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
