Site details


Site description: Located in Qinhuangdao and Tangshan cities. The IBA is a fan-shape inter-tidal wetland on the coast of Bohai Bay, with an area of 20,000 ha. The main habitat types include coastal plantation and semi-abandoned areas. The mudflats are rich in molluscs and crustaceans.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
