Site description: This IBA is an oxbow lake wetland in the old Yangzte River channel, which has been designated as a nature reserve for the reintroduction of the Milu (Pere David’s Deer) Elaphurus davidianus and the Yangtze River Dolphin (Baiji) Lipotes vexillifer.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: One of the two reintroduction sites of Elaphurus davidianus in China.
