Site details


Site description: Located in the south-western part of Suichang County. The IBA is part of Xianxialing in the Wuyi Shan mountains. The highest point is at 1,724 m, which is the fourth highest mountain in Zhejiang. There are 28 peaks above 1,500 m, and 35 peaks above 1,000 m.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Fokienia hodginsii, Liriodendron chinense and Tsuga tckekiangensis. Animals include Panthera pardus, Panthra uncial and Capricornis sumatraensis.
