Site details


Site description: Mountains with streams, bogs and a large Quercus pyrenaica woodland. Cattle are grazed in the woodland which contains many small patches of grassland. The main human activities are game hunting and forestry.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: This is an important area for woodland species. The site holds probably the best population of Dendrocopos medius in Spain.
