Site details
Site description: A chain of limestone hills covered by Quercus woodland and scrub. The main human activities are livestock-farming and cork harvesting (`Other' land-use, below).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where 20,000 storks and raptors regularly pass.
