Threats

Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Forest fires (some of them man-made) are a major threat. Illegal hunting and activities related to forestry practices (cutting of branches for use in cultivation) adversely affect the habitat, and rats Rattus and feral cats Felis catus prey on birds. Various studies have been undertaken on the biology and distribution of raptors, Fringilla teydea and Dendrocopos major.
