Site details

Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: 2007-08 (BL Secretariat): the 2000 IBA 'Eastern coast of the Sea of Azov' (SitRecID 1545; 457,300 ha) has been split into two IBAs: Delta of Kuban River (SitRecID 22260; 179,500 ha) and Taman' (SitRecID 22188; 47,500 ha). 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 45°34'39'N 37°46'48'E on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World). 2009-08-04 (BL Secretariat): IBA area changed from 170,200 ha to 179,500 ha (following RBCU spreadsheet of changes that need making).
