Site details
Site description: Two connected freshwater lakes surrounded by deciduous forest, reedbeds and agricultural land.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: Significant numbers of wintering waterbirds (more than 20,000 individuals) and raptors occur in some years. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (max. 5, non-breeding). Sterna hirundo, S. albifrons and Alcedo atthis, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, breed at the site.
