Site details


Site description: A complex of wetlands (open raised bogs with elements of transition mire or fen, and lakes) and predominantly mixed and deciduous forests. Listed as an IBA since 1994 [5, 6, 1]. High protection level: there is a 91.6% overlap with Augstroze restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
