Site details
Site description: The area encompasses River Cetina from its spring to the mouth as well as several Karst polje along the River: Pasko, Suho, Sinjsko and Hrvatacko. Pasko polje is mostly covered by extensive wet pastures, with several small marshes, flooded meadows and gravel banks. The area holds the only nesting population of Redshank in Croatia. The area near Dinara foothills (Suho polje) is covered with dry grassland. Sinjsko polje is meliorated and mainly covered by arable land. Hrvatacko polje is covered with extensive grassland (wet and dry) and wetland habitats with abundant emergent vegetation. It is the only nesting place of Moustached Warbler in Croatia. Bird community of river habitats is very poor as a result of negative impact of a hydro-power plant Peruca. Water Reservoir Peruca is the only breeding place of Goosander (Common Merganser) in Croatia.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: Area also changed from 640 ha to 17867 ha (Radovic, Kralj, Tutis, Radovic & Topic, 2005). Area changed from 17867 ha to 21447 ha, as part of 2010 revision of IBAs/proposed SPAs.
