Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Delineation rationale: 2015 (Marguerite Tarzia): the IBA Pantelleria and Isole Pelagie (IT168; SitRecID 2839) has been split into the IBAs Pantelleria (IT224; SitRecID 46977) and Isole Pelagie (IT221; SitRecID 45283). Pelagic area is used by Scopoli's Shearwater breeding in the Linosa Island (data collected by means a telemetry study - 2014).
