Site details


Site description: The Sinh Long area is situated within the Na Hang/Ba Be Forest Complex, and is contiguous with the Tat Ke sector of Na Hang proposed nature reserve.The topography of the site is dominated by a mountain ridge.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas) The site has been reviewed and re-confirmed as a KBA in the process of compiling the revised 2011 CEPF Ecosystem Profile for the Indo-Burma Hotspot.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Three species of globally threatened primates were recorded at Sinh Long by Le Tong Trai et al. (2001) on the basis of interviews: Rhesus Macaque Macaca mulatta, Stump-tailed Macaque Macaca arctoides and Francois' Langur Trachypithecus francoisi francoisi.Particoloured Flying Squirrel Hylopetes alboniger was observed at Sinh Long and Asiatic Black Bear Ursus thibetanus was recorded at interview at the site (Le Trong Trai et al., 2001).Local people have reported that Southern Serow Naemorhedus sumatraensis is fairly common in limestone forest and evergreen forest at high elevations in Sinh Long (Le Trong Trai et al., 2001).
