Site details


Site description: Eastern part of Zilairskoye plateau, at the edge of mountain and steppes to the east from Ural mountain. Sakmara river cross the area on the middle. Left banks of river are covered ny birch forest-steppe with open steppe patches. On the river bank pine and mixed forests are presented. There are a lot of high rocks on the banks of river - up to 70 m.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Delineation rationale: 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 52°11'46'N 57°49'21'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 23445 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
