Site details


Site description: The IBA covers an area of flood-plain of the River Tisza, which is subject to occasional inundation, and includes areas of softwood flood-plain forest, meadows and oxbow lakes.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: An important site for birds associated with flood-plain forest and wetland complexes. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (3-5 pairs).
