Site description: Group of near-coastal rocky islets in the tundra zone surrounded by unfreezen during winter sea water.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: There are more than 20,000 pairs of nesting waterbirds here.
Delineation rationale: 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 69°10'20'N 35°54'28'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 1595 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
