Site description: Tundra islands with cliffs located in the Barents sea.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: In total more then 25000 pairs of seabird breed here.
Delineation rationale: 2009-08-06: IBA area changed from 650 ha to 10,667 ha (by BL Secretariat, following RBCU spreadsheet of changes that need making). 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 68°44'34'N 37°31'14'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 10667 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
