Site details
Site description: Located to the north-east of Tongjiang City, along the Heilong Jiang (Amur River) which forms to Chinese border with Russia. The nature reserve is made up of about 60 islands in the river, with Bacha Dao the largest island in area (about 4,000 ha).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
