Site details


Site description: Lianhuanhu lake is located on the lower Nen Jiang river, and extends 60 km from north to south, and 20 km from east to west. Habitats include open water, marshes, meadows, plantations and agricultural areas. About 25,000-45,000 birds (mostly snipe and duck) are hunted in the IBA each year.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
