Site details
Site description: Located in the northern part of Baoqing County. The nature reserve in on the southern bank of the middle section of the Qixing He river, and extends 30 km from east to west and 10 km from north to south. Habitats include ox-bow lakes, marshes and meadows.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: This area was once in the ranges of Selenarctos thibetanus and Lutra lutra, but these animals are now locally extinct due to unsustainable hunting. Ondatra zibethicus and Nyctereutes procyonoides are still present.
Delineation rationale: New polygon digitized at Birdlife International by Tris Allinson using Googel Earth, however, accuracy may be poor
