Site details
Site description: This IBA is a marsh located between the Qihulin He and Abuqin He rivers, with lowland floodplains and forest patches. Although some areas are being converted into agricultural land, most of the marshes have little human disturbance and are well preserved. It is a breeding and staging site for waterbirds.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Over 30 species of mammals have been recorded, including Vulpes vulpes, Selenarctos thibetanus, Cervus elaphus, Lepus timidus, Mustela sibirica and Nyctereutes procyonoides.
