Site description: Hukou Wetland Nature Reserve is located in the southern part of Hulin City, and extends 60 km from north to south.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Twenty-three mammal species have been recorded in the area, including seven nationally protected species. Nationally protected plants include Phellodendron chinense, Fraxinus mandshurica and Juglans mandshurica.
