Site details


Site description: Located in Beipiao City, western Liaoning, bordering Tangfang Nanshan to the east, Qianjingzi to the west, Longtan to the north and Zhuangtouying to the south. The IBA is a narrow and long site which extends from north to south, and includes Longtan Reservoir, Longtan channel and the Gudong He river.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Mammals include Common Hedgehog, Wolf, Red Fox, Raccoon Dog, Polecat, Siberian Weasel, Common Badger, Leopard Cat and Roe Deer. Amphibians include tree frogs and soft-shelled turtles.
