Site details


Site description: Located at the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, west of Port Lüshun, Dalian City. The landscape is typical of the Liaodong Peninsular, hilly with a central lowland area surrounded by higher hills. There are villages, salt pans, rivers and reservoirs, and most of the forest in the IBA is forestry plantation or secondary. This is an important stop-over area for migratory birds, which pass through the IBA in millions annually.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
