Site details


Site description: Located in Hulun Buir League, 30 km from Hailar City. The Huihe is a river which flows north-eastwards from the Da Hinggan Ling mountains to the Hailar He river. The IBA includes many shallow marshes, lakes and ponds, and this is one of the most important reed production area in Inner Mongolia.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Paeonia lactiflora and Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica. Nationally protected animals include Felis manul, Procapra gutturosa, Lutra lutra and Lepus timidus.
