Site details
Site description: Hasuhai is located on the flood plain of the northern bank of the Huang He (Yellow River), in an old channel of the river. The southern section of the lake has extensive reedbeds and bulrushes suitable for breeding birds, and the IBA is an important breeding and staging area for waterbirds. Over-fishing has caused serious disturbance to birds, and an increase in tourist activities is also affecting birds and their habitats.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: No information.
Delineation rationale: Digitized by Wendall, probably reasonably accurate
