Site details


Site description: Located in the southern section of the Da Hinggan Ling mountains. The mountains in the IBA extend from north-east to south-west and average over 1,000 m, with the highest peak, named Wulanbashan, at 1,997 m. The vegetation is complex, with grassland and broadleaf forest.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: One hundred and forty Naemorhedus goral were discovered here in 1999.
