Site details
Site description: Beiping is on the southern slopes of the Dabashan mountains. The habitats in the IBA include broadleaf evergreen forest, mixed broadleaf evergreen and deciduous forest and coniferous evergreen forest. At 1,400-1,900 m there are patches of agricultural land, scrub and commercial woodland.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera pardus, Cervus albirostris, Macaca mulatta, Felis temmincki, Moschus berezovskii, Neofelis nebulosa, Viverra zibetha, Viverricula indica and Naemorhedus goral.
