Site details


Site description: Located in the south-eastern part of Guizhou Province, and in the watershed of the Yangtze and Pearl River systems. Areas below 1,400 m have been converted into agricultural land and scrub, areas at 1,400-1,850 m are dominated by broadleaf evergreen mixed forest, and areas above 2,100 m are dominated by Rhododendron and arrow bamboo.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs. Alliance for Zero Extinction (2018): site confirmed as an AZE site during the AZE project (2015-2018). Taxonomy, nomenclature and Red List category follow the IUCN 2016 Red List.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Taiwania cryptomerioides, Tetracentron sinense, Fokienia hodginsii and Liriodendron chinense. Animals include Prionodon pardicolor, Viverricula indica, Viverra zibetha, Felis temmincki, Manis pentadactyla, Moschus berezovskii, Capricornis sumatraensis and Selenarctos thibetanus.
