Site description: Tuanbowa is located in Jinghai County, 24 km from downtown Tianjin. The nature reserve mainly comprises a 6,000 ha reservoir, of which 5,100 ha is open water, with agricultural land, ponds and channels at the edge of the reservoir.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
