Site details

Site description: The Changdao Islands are also called Changshan Liedao, and they lie in the strait between the Shandong and Liaodong peninsulas. The IBA is a migratory bottleneck for birds, and more than one million birds migrate throught the islands annually. One of China’s most important bird-banding stations is on the islands.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: No information.
Delineation rationale: Boundary digitized by Gill Bunting at Birdlife International using Google Earth. Accuracy probably OK.
