Site details


Site description: Located at the southern tip of Luoshan County, on the northern slopes of the Dabie Shan mountains. Most of the IBA lies within the Huai He watershed, but water from two areas flows into the Yangtze River. Of the forest in the IBA, 4,646 ha are used for forestry and 5,354 ha as commune forest.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Emmenopterys henryi and Ginkgo biloba. Animals include Panthera pardus, Lutra lutra and Viverra zibetha.
