Site details
Site description: Shijiu Hu lake overlaps two provinces, with the western part in Anhui and the eastern part in Jiangsu. When the water in the lake is 6 m deep open water covers an area of 21,400 ha, and when it is 8 m deep open water covers 34,000 ha.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
