Site details

Site description: Located in Fujiang village, Changshan County. The vegetation in the IBA is mainly evergreen broadleaf-coniferous mixed forest, and on the eastern, western and south-western sides of Taigong Shan are reservoirs and fishponds, with hilly areas, wet agricultural land and streams. Human disturbance is not serious. Egrets colonised a 3 ha nesting site at Taigong Shan in 1988, with Ardeola bacchus (4,100 birds in 1994), Egretta garzetta (1,900 birds in 1994), Nycticorax nycticorax (1,100 birds in 1994), Bubulcus ibis (about 200 birds in 1994).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: No information.
Delineation rationale: Boundary digitized by Gill Bunting at Birdlife International using Google Earth. Accuracy difficult to determine.
