Site details
Site description: Floodplain of the Iput' river, between the villages of Krutoyar and Krasnoe, which floods in spring. On the north-east merge with IBA RU080. But as both IBAs cover very different landscapes, then they should be divided. Also diferent consrvation regimes are needed for RU080 and RU078.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: Since only one field season has been carried out here, data is incomplete.
Delineation rationale: 2009-08-11: IBA area changed from 4,000 ha to 4,290 ha (by BL Secretariat, following RBCU spreadsheet of changes that need making). 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 53°10'6'N 32°37'9'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 4290 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
