Site description: Located around 30 km south-west of Cirebon with 'classic shape' of mountain.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: The important faunas in the area are Presbytis comata and Trachypithecus auratus (Nijman 1997).
Habitats
Summary of habitats in KBA: Gunung Ceremai has beautiful mountain rainforest (MacKinnon et.al.1982, Whitten et.al.1996). Although only few information already known from this site, but based on good forest condition it is predicted that the site is important for biodiversity.
