Site description: Located around 10 km north-west of Indramayu. The area is the important site for waders.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)

Habitats


Summary of habitats in KBA: Heavily disturbed mangrove and freshwater swamp. There are ponds (tambak), drainage canals with high sedimentation rates. Nevertheless this constitutes one of the largest remaining example of the swampy habitats that once characterised the northern coast of Java (MacKinnon et.al.1982, Sukardjo 1987).
