Site details
Site description: Telaga Warna is described as a small natural lake surrounded by mountain rain forest and located around 27 km south-east of Bogor. Cibulao is a small patches of forest (130 ha) close to Telaga Warna. Part of Telaga Warna-Cibulao is also part of Taman Wisata Alam (Recreation Park) Jember which is a popular tourist destination in West Java.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: This area lies on the migration route of raptors such as Chinese Goshawk Accipiter soloensis and Oriental Honey-Buzzard Pernis ptilorhynchus. During 7 days observation (November 1997) around 7329 raptors counted pass this area (CIBA personal.obs.). Non-bird biodiversity: Hylobates moloch, Presbytis comata and Trachypithecus auratus (Erftemeijer 1987, Asquith et.al.1995, Nijman 1997)
