Site details


Site description: Sunarto & Melisch (1994) reported that the natural mangrove forest has already depleted. Most of the area are not influenced by tidal, and converted into ponds and agriculture area.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: This area is suitable for waterbirds and waders, and in need for further survey. Non-bird biodiversity: Panthera pardus (probably extinct) and Trachypithecus auratus (Silvius et.al. 1987).
