Site details
Site description: Gunung Repok (1912 m) separated from Ruteng by Wae Mese River Valley. Slopes of Gunung Repok are very steep and landslide is frequently occured. Forested area up to 1200 m and 1500 m has been cutted and only small group of forested area in steep river valleys.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs. KBA identified by the 2014 CEPF Wallacea Ecosystem Profile process. Taxonomy and threat status follow the 2013 IUCN Red List.
Additional biodiversity: This area is the location where Flores Scopsowl Ottus alfredi specimen collected (Hartert 1897a), and follow up survey in this area couldn't found that species (Butcart et.al.1996, Trainor & Lesmana 2000). Follow-up survey is needed to establish the status of Flores Scopsowl, especially in coastal areas.
Delineation rationale: 2015-06-10 (BL Secretariat): site area changed from 10500 ha to 16541 ha, following 2014 CEPF Ecosystem Profile.
