Site details
Site description: This area is located in the south of Sumba Island and the third biggest forest block in Sumba.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs. KBA identified by the 2014 CEPF Wallacea Ecosystem Profile process. Taxonomy and threat status follow the 2013 IUCN Red List.
Delineation rationale: 2015-06-10 (BL Secretariat): site area changed from 19050 ha to 14674 ha, following 2014 CEPF Ecosystem Profile.
Habitats
Summary of habitats in KBA: Secondary forest and only few area covered by primary forest. It has a spectacular landscape because of combination between grassland, savanna and forest area (Jepson et.al.1996)
